Excellent choice for Los Altan of the Year
Bravo to the Town Crier for selecting the David and Lucile Packard Foundation as the Los Altan of the Year (Town Crier, Jan. 8).
We live in an incredible place – Los Altos, Silicon Valley, the Bay Area. The Packard Foundation has been a steadfast patron for decades – literally building organizations from the ground up – from bricks and mortar to programming support and critical leadership operating funding that could be counted upon regardless of economic downturns.
We would be a dramatically different Silicon Valley had it not been for the vision and commitment of the Packard Foundation to support, encourage and sustain our leading nonprofit institutions – from arts and culture to social service, from large budget to small budget and everything in between.
I doubt that any resident here has not in a direct way benefited from the benevolence of the foundation’s gifts.
I hope we will be blessed again and again with this kind of extravagant generosity and bold risk-taking from the next generation – who can be mentored by this model to change the world – locally, nationally and globally, but locally first.
