Pear Avenue Theatre is slated to present Tracy Letts’ “Superior Donuts” Thursday through July 14 at 1220 Pear Ave., Unit K, Mountain View. Thursday’s show is a preview; Friday is opening night.
The comedy follows Arthur and his unexpected relationship with Franco. Arthur is a Polish-American former draft resister who owns a rundown donut shop in Uptown Chicago. Franco is his energetic but troubled African-American assistant who wants to update the establishment with lively music and healthful menu options.
Ann Kuchins directs a cast that includes Doug Brook, Christopher P. Carter, Alonzo Cook, Stephanie Crowley, Durand Garcia, Brandon Jackson, Chase Kinsey, Ray Renati and Patricia Tyler.
Performances are scheduled 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. There will also be a performance 8 p.m. July 3, but no show July 4. A discussion with the director and cast is set for Sunday.
Tickets are $15-$30; the preview is pay-what-you-can.
