This is the final weekend to catch the Pinewood School production of “The Sound of Music.”
The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, which opened last week, is slated to close Saturday at Foothill College’s Lohman Theatre in Los Altos Hills.
“Music” is based on the true story of the Trapp Family Singers.
In a Pinewood first, the play features students from the lower, middle and upper campuses.
“I’m very excited to be producing and directing ‘The Sound of Music’ with students from all three of our campuses,” said Spencer Williams, chairman of Pinewood’s Performing Arts Department. “It’s been so much fun getting to know the younger kids and to see them interact with the students from upper campus.”
Added Sophia Ellis, a second-grader playing Gretl von Trapp, “The big kids help me with my lines and are super funny.”
The musical stars senior Lindsay Riches as Maria, senior Jenny Paz as Mother Abbess and junior Talmage Wise as Capt. Georg von Trapp.
Performances are scheduled 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday at Foothill, 12345 S. El Monte Road.
Tickets are $10-$15; parking is $3.
