Flag football camp

After School Athletics’ eighth-annual Flag Football Summer Camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon July 29 through Aug. 2 at Foothill College, 12345 S. El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. Coaches include Foothill head coach Kelly Edwards and former Mountain View High head coach Toure Carter, now an assistant at West Valley College. Retired NFL Super Bowl champions are scheduled to speak at the camp, open to boys and girls entering grades 3-8. The camp is focused on fun, fundamentals, individual and team skills, and speed and agility drills. Cost is $250, $300 with lunch. Swing for a cause

Los Altos Hills residents Gunilla and Tom Follett head the committee for the inaugural Links to the Heart golf tournament, scheduled Monday at the Stanford University Golf Course. Proceeds benefit Pathways Home Health and Hospice. The event is slated to begin with the putting contest at 11 a.m., followed by the shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The tourney offers contests, prizes and a box lunch, along with a reception and dinner at which the prizes will be awarded. All-star game nears

Recent graduates of Mountain View, St. Francis and Homestead highs have committed to play in the 39th annual Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game, scheduled 7:30 p.m. July 17 at San Jose City College. Also known as the Silicon Valley Youth Classic, the contest showcases Santa Clara County’s top high school players from the Class of 2013. Locals participants include defensive back Joe Flores and linebacker Chad Schaumburg of Mountain View, defensive end Shane Artim and quarterback Mike Lauck of St. Francis and Homestead defensive back Mark Hirschbeck, a Los Altos resident. All will play on the North in a game against the South that honors the late Charlie Wedemeyer, the longtime Los Gatos football coach who suffered from ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease.
