Swing for a cause

Los Altos residents Gunilla and Tom Follett head the committee for the inaugural Links to the Heart golf tournament, slated July 15 at the Stanford University Golf Course. Proceeds benefit Pathways Home Health and Hospice. The event is slated to begin with the putting contest at 11 a.m., followed by the shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The tourney offers contests, prizes and a box lunch, along with a reception and dinner at which the prizes will be awarded. Travel team tryouts

Peninsula Baseball Club of Los Altos Hills has scheduled tryouts this month for its 2013-14 travel baseball teams. The season runs July through May. Registration is open for AYSO Region 43’s fall soccer season. The region serves boys and girls in grades K-12 who live in northern Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. AYSO follows six philosophies: everyone plays, player development, positive coaching, good sportsmanship, balanced teams and open registration. Circuit race seeks sponsors

Sponsors are sought for the third annual Foothill College Circuit Race, “The Learning Curve,” scheduled July 14 on the campus in Los Altos Hills. Foothill College and the Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club host the bicycle race, which raises funds to construct a multiuse bike and pedestrian path encircling the 122-acre campus. Organizers seek a title sponsor ($5,000), individual race sponsors ($300-$1,300) and prize sponsors (product donations). In return, sponsors will have their names/logos printed on the back of race T-shirts and on banners around the course, and receive space for a product booth.
