The US Rowing organization has announced that Keane Johnson has been selected as a member of the rowing team representing the United States at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia to be held July 6-17th.  A 2009 Los Altos High School graduate, Keane played base ball for the Eagles and was a member of the 2008 CCS finals team.  He brought that competitive spirit with him to Boston College where he began training and racing as a varsity rower, becoming team captain his senior year.  Upon graduation from Boston College this past May, he attended the US Rowing Selection camp and was one of 8 rowers selected for the eight crew team.  He feels it is a great honor to represent the United States and his hometown of Los Altos in this unique sport.

The first World University Game took place in 1923 Paris.   The games are held every 2 years and have been hosted internationally in Asia, Europe and the Americas including the United States in 1993.  This year’s summer game will feature a record 27 sports and participants from 162 nations.
