Hinnant is 3rd at CCS

Los Altos High’s Louis Hinnant placed third in boys singles at the recent Central Coast Section Badminton Championships. The sophomore went 4-2 in the three-day tournament, held last month at Monta Vista High.

Travel team tryouts

Peninsula Baseball Club of Los Altos Hills has scheduled tryouts next month for its 2013-14 travel baseball teams. The season runs July through May. Registration is open for AYSO Region 43’s fall soccer season. The region serves boys and girls in grades K-12 who live in northern Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. Circuit race seeks sponsors

Sponsors are sought for the third annual Foothill College Circuit Race, “The Learning Curve,” scheduled July 14 on the campus in Los Altos Hills. Foothill College and the Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club host the bicycle race, which raises funds to construct a multiuse bike and pedestrian path encircling the 122-acre campus. Organizers seek a title sponsor ($5,000), individual race sponsors ($300-$1,300) and prize sponsors (product donations). In return, sponsors will have their names/logos printed on the back of race T-shirts and on banners around the course, and receive space for a product booth. Summer camp sign-ups

Spartans Sports Camp’s summer program is under way. Directed by Doug Wiersig, the second-year camp opened Monday and is scheduled to run through Aug. 2 at Mountain View High, 3535 Truman Ave. It offers seven sessions of multisport camps (for those entering grades 3-6) and strength and agility camps (grades 6-12), and two sessions of sport-specific camps in basketball, soccer and baseball. In addition, there are advanced camps in girls volleyball and girls water polo, and a boys lacrosse camp. Proceeds benefit Mountain View High athletics.
