LA’s Yeager brothers among locals who shine at Golden West

Los Altos High’s Brian Yeager finished third in the boys triple jump at the recent Golden West Invitational at UC Berkeley.

Five track and field athletes from local schools placed eighth or better in an event at the 54th annual Golden West Invitational, held June 9 at UC Berkeley’s Edwards Stadium.

Los Altos High’s Brian Yeager, who just completed his sophomore year, took third in the boys triple jump with an effort of 42 feet, 3 inches.

Older brother Danny Yeager, who graduated from Los Altos last month, finished fifth in the boys 300-meter hurdles with a time of 39.78 seconds.

Willem Van Eck, who graduated alongside Yeager, clocked an 11.44 in the boys 100 dash to place eighth.

St. Francis High grad Cody Bickham, entering his sophomore year at Cal, finished fourth in the men’s discus throw. Competing on his home turf, Bickham unleashed a throw of 164-6.

For the girls, St. Francis’ Micha Auzenne placed fourth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.31. Auzenne graduated from St. Francis in May.
