St. Francis High reported Friday that alum Greg Calcagno has been hired as varsity football coach.
Calcagno (Class of 1983) is the son of Ron Calcagno, the most successful football coach in school history.
Greg Calcagno was team captain and quarterback on the Lancer’s first undefeated football team in 1982 and is a member of the school’s Hall of Fame.
He serves as alumni director at St. Francis and was an assistant JV football coach last season.
Calcagno replaces Nick Navarro, who in his third year guided the Lancers to the Central Coast Section Division II title last fall.
Navarro is moving to Florida to explore other work opportunities and to move closer to his family, according to a press release from St. Francis.
