Highlights of Himalayan hike presented at REI
REI in Mountain View is slated to host a free digital presentation, “The Great Himalaya Trail,” 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday. Seasoned hiker Justin Lichter discusses and shows images from his most challenging long-distance trek to-date: a three-month 2,500-mile traverse of the Himalaya, from eastern Nepal to the India/Pakistan border, following the Great Himalaya Trail. Los Altos seeks coaches for hoops, field hockey
Registration open for Sequoia Century ride
Registration for the Sequoia Century Bicycle Ride, set for June 2 at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, has begun. Organized by the Western Wheelers Bicycle Club, the event offers three routes through the mountains to the coast and back (100 and 200 kilometers and 100 miles) and another through Saratoga, Los Altos Hills and Portola Valley (50 miles). Spring basketball camp slated next week in MV
Spartans Sports Camp’s Spring Break Basketball Camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Monday through April 12 at Mountain View High. It is open to boys and girls in grades 4-8. Led by Mountain View coaches and alumni, the fast-paced camp will focus on shooting, ball handling and defense. Campers will get a chance to use the school’s new shooting machine. Cost is $195.
