Schaefer shines

Stanford University swimmer Maddy Schaefer of Los Altos entered the school record books twice earlier this month in home meets against Southern California rivals. A day after setting a pool record in the 50-meter freestyle (22.27 seconds) against UCLA Feb. 1, the sophomore was part of a 400 medley team that set a pool record (3:36.22) against USC. Schaefer is a graduate of St. Francis High.
