Meeting a ‘Challenge’

Three local residents participated in the 50-mile run at the sixth annual North Face Endurance Challenge Championships Dec. 3 in the Marin Headlands. Mountain View’s Yasushi Saito and Keisuke Nishimoto placed 86th and 152nd, respectively, and John Arledge of Los Altos finished 183rd.

Trees for sports

The MVLA High School Christmas Tree Lot is back in business, scheduled to be open 4-7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekends at the former location of Blockbuster, 1035 El Monte Ave., Mountain View. Holiday hoops camp

Spartans Sports Camp’s inaugural Holiday Basketball Camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 26-29 in the Mountain View High gym. It is open to boys and girls in grades 5-8. Los Altos & Los Altos Hills Little League’s spring-season registration is scheduled through February. The league welcomes new and returning players, ages 5-16, in baseball and girls softball and T-ball. Registration runs through February.
