Senior tennis tourney begins Monday in PA

Tennis players from Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View are scheduled to participate in the USTA NorCal Mid-Pen Senior Championships Monday through Aug. 17 at Foothills Tennis and Swim Club, 3351 Miranda Ave., Palo Alto. Local singles and doubles players have registered to compete in age divisions such as over 65, over 70 and over 85, according to Foothills manager Parvin Farhooma. The annual tournament offers daytime events for men and women ages 45-90. Admission is free for spectators. Fall sports info night set for Tuesday at MV

Mountain View High’s Fall Sports Parent Information Night – led by athletic director Shelley Smith – is scheduled 6 p.m. Tuesday in the school’s Spartan Theater. The presentation includes a general overview of the fall sports, an introduction of coaches, an opportunity to turn in athletic enrollment forms, information on participation cost, a question-and-answer period and a breakout session with each team. Montclaire School hosts 5k run/walk

Montclaire Elementary School’s Fifth Annual 5k Run/Walk is slated 8:30 a.m. Sept. 28, starting on the campus at 1160 St. Joseph Ave., Los Altos. The 3.1-mile course includes the surrounding Highlands neighborhood and a portion of Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve. The theme is “Peace and Love,” and participants are encouraged to wear groovy clothes such as capes, tutus and knee-high socks. There will also be a free 1-mile fun run for children. Los Altos High seeks several coaches for the next school year. Soccer kicks into gear

Registration is open for AYSO Region 43’s fall soccer season. The region serves boys and girls in grades K-12 who live in northern Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.
