The Central Coast Section honored seven teams from Los Altos High for their work in the classroom during the 2013-14 school year.
Their collective grade-point averages ranked from first to fourth among teams competing in their respective sport. Five squads in each sport received a CCS Scholastic Championship Team Award.
Los Altos finished first in girls track and field (3.9 GPA) and girls basketball (3.8), second in girls water polo (3.67) and gymnastics (3.44), third in badminton (3.54) and fourth in boys basketball (3.5) and girls soccer (3.72).
“We are proud of our student-athletes on the field and in the classroom,” Los Altos athletic director Kim Cave said. “This year we had successes with several league athletic championships as well as student academic excellence. These results indicate that we remain one of the best high schools in the section in producing successful student-athletes.”
The CCS Board of Managers instituted the awards in 1985. The section comprises 147 high schools from San Francisco to King City.
