Local golfers shine at Shoreline Jr. Classic

A slew of local golfers placed among the top five in their divisions at the Shoreline Junior Classic June 27 at Shoreline Golf Links in Mountain View. Los Altos resident Kripa Dharan tied for first in the Boys 10-11 division, shooting a nine-hole score of 32. Carisa Kim of Los Altos placed second in the Girls 10-11 division with a 38. In the girls 12-14 group, Mountain View resident Maddie Jun tied for third with an 18-hole score of 78 and Simar Singh of Los Altos tied for fifth with a 79. Connor Song tied for fifth in the Boys 7-9 division with a 43, while fellow Los Altos resident Sophie Thai tied for fifth in the Girls 7-9 group by shooting 48.

MVLA Girls Softball holds fall ball tryouts

Tryouts for Mountain View-Los Altos Girls Softball’s Nova Fall Ball teams are scheduled Aug. 16. Nova teams range from under-8 to under-16 age groups. For more information, visit mvlags.org.

Red Star registration continues this month

Red Star Soccer Academy’s summer training programs, including its Shooting Star Striker Training, run through July at Los Altos’ Grant Park. Weeklong full, half-day and two-hour programs are offered to boys and girls ages 7-14. Cost is $130-$295; scholarships and financial aid are available. Spartans Sports Camp runs through Aug. 1

Spartans Sports Camp offers multisport, weeklong sessions for boys and girls in grades 2-6 as well as sport-specific sessions for grades 5-9 at Mountain View High. There are also strength and conditioning camps for grades 6-12, along with cheerleading camps for grades Pre-K to 8. Mountain View High coaches and student-athletes run the summer camp, scheduled through Aug. 1. Fees vary; proceeds benefit the athletic department. AYSO Reg. 43 kicks off sign-ups for fall season

Registration is open for AYSO Region 43’s fall soccer season. The region serves boys and girls in grades K-12 who live in northern Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. AYSO follows six philosophies: everyone plays, player development, positive coaching, good sportsmanship, balanced teams and open registration. The registration fee is $195.
