Circuit race returns
The fourth annual Foothill College Circuit Race, “The Learning Curve,” is scheduled 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 13 on the Los Altos Hills campus. Cyclists from the Juniors, Elite, Masters and Elite Pro divisions will race on the 1.09-mile loop around Foothill, climbing 60 feet in the process. Prizes for the winners range from medals to $500, depending on division. All racers must have a USA Cycling license; one-day and annual licenses will be sold at registration. Registration is $15-$35 through July 10 and an additional $10 after that. Proceeds go toward building a pedestrian/bike path from El Monte Road to campus. Eagles make grade(s)
The Los Altos High girls track and field team last month was recognized as a CIF State Academic Team Champion for posting the highest GPA in its sport (3.90). The Eagles were one of only three teams from the Central Coast Section to garner such an award from the California Interscholastic Federation, which governs the state’s high school sports. Los Altos will receive a banner suitable for display in its gym.
Red Star registration
Registration is open for Red Star Soccer Academy summer training programs, including its Shooting Star Striker Training. Weeklong full, half-day and two-hour programs are offered to boys and girls ages 7-14 through July at Grant Park in Los Altos. Cost is $130-$295; scholarships and financial aid are available. Sports camp sign-ups
Spartans Sports Camp offers multisport, weeklong sessions for boys and girls in grades 2-6 as well as sport-specific sessions for grades 5-9 at Mountain View High. There are also be strength and conditioning camps for grades 6-12, along with cheerleading camps for grades Pre-K to 8. Mountain View coaches and student-athletes run the camp, slated through Aug. 1. Soccer kicks into gear
