MV JV softball shines

Mountain View High’s junior-varsity softball team last month capped a stellar season. The Spartans won the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League El Camino Division with an 11-1 record and went 15-4-1 overall. Pitchers Jennifer Bryant (6-0 league) and Mackenzie Carlson (5-1) were named the division’s Co-Defensive Players of the Year.

Pop Warner nears

In-person registration for Mountain View/Los Altos Pop Warner youth football and cheer (ages 8-14) is scheduled 6-7:30 p.m. June 11 and 23 at the Mountain View Community Center, 201 S. Sports camp sign-ups

Spartans Sports Camp this summer will offer multisport, weeklong sessions for boys and girls in grades 2-6 as well as sport-specific sessions for grades 5-9 at Mountain View High. There will also be strength and conditioning camps for grades 6-12, along with cheerleading camps for grades Pre-K to 8. Mountain View High coaches and student-athletes run the camp, scheduled Monday through Aug. 1. Fees vary; proceeds benefit the school’s athletic department. Soccer kicks into gear

Registration is open for AYSO Region 43’s fall soccer season. The region serves boys and girls in grades K-12 who live in northern Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. AYSO follows six philosophies: everyone plays, player development, positive coaching, good sportsmanship, balanced teams and open registration. The registration fee is $195.
