Fun run approaches
The Gardner Grizzly Fun Run, a 5-kilometer walk/run benefiting the Los Altos Education Foundation, is scheduled May 31 at Gardner Bullis School, 25890 W. Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills. The 3.1-mile course stretches into the nearby hills; strollers, dogs and wagons are welcome. The school mascot and members of the local fire department are slated to appear. There will be refreshments, prizes and shorter races for younger children. Registration-packet pickup is set to begin at 8 a.m., the run/walk at 9 a.m. and the kids’ races at 10 a.m. Cost is $15-$20, free for those 5 and under. Sports camp sign-ups
Spartans Sports Camp this summer will offer multisport, weeklong sessions for boys and girls in grades 2-6 as well as sport-specific sessions for grades 5-9 at Mountain View High. There will also be strength and conditioning camps for grades 6-12, along with cheerleading camps for grades Pre-K to 8. Mountain View High coaches and student-athletes run the camp, scheduled June 9 through Aug. 1. Fees vary; proceeds benefit the school’s athletic department. To register, visit spartanssportscamp.com.
Soccer kicks into gear
Registration is open for AYSO Region 43’s fall soccer season. The region serves boys and girls in grades K-12 who live in northern Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. AYSO follows six philosophies: everyone plays, player development, positive coaching, good sportsmanship, balanced teams and open registration. The registration fee is $195. LA seeks soccer coach
Aloha Volleyball Club, directed by Los Altos High girls coach Peter Kim, has scheduled clinics on the fundamentals of volleyball Sundays through May at Santa Clara High. The clinics are open to boys and girls 14 and under. Cost is $40. For more information, visit alohavbc.com.
