Local soccer standouts go international

Three soccer players with local ties were part of the USA 18-Under Women’s National Team that competed in the 10 Nations Tournament last month in La Manga, Spain. Defender Megan Keeth (St. Francis High) and midfielder Jaye Boissiere (Menlo School) – both Los Altos Hills residents – played on the squad with fellow senior Annie Kingman (St. Francis), a midfielder. Facing under-19 teams from other countries, Team USA went 1-2 at the tournament.

Golf tourney benefits youth baseball team

The Los Altos Hills-based Peninsula Baseball Club has scheduled a golf tournament May 9 at Shoreline Golf Links in Mountain View to raise funds for the 12-year-old team’s upcoming trip to Cooperstown, N.Y., to play at Dreams Park. Check-in time is 11:30 a.m., with a box lunch to follow, and the tourney tees off at 1 p.m. Cost is $100, which includes greens fee, lunch, cart and $4 merchandise credit. Los Altos coach offers volleyball clinics

The Aloha Volleyball Club, directed by Los Altos High girls coach Peter Kim, has scheduled five three-session clinics on the fundamentals of volleyball. The clinics, open to boys and girls 14 and under, are scheduled three Sundays a month through May at Santa Clara High. Cost is $40 per clinic or $100 for three sessions. CIF seeks All-Century Team noms

The California Interscholastic Federation is accepting spring-sport nominations for its All-Century Teams. The CIF governs the state’s high school sports. Former student-athletes who demonstrated significant athletic contributions in CIF-approved sports are eligible and anyone can nominate a student-athlete they deem worthy.
