De Anza College freshman Nate Vieira, a Los Altos High graduate, was recently named Second Team All-Coast Conference South Division. The 5-foot-8 point guard helped the Dons reach the regional playoffs this season.
The MVLA Typhoons 98 – an under-15 girls soccer team for players born after July 31, 1998 – invites players to try out this month. The squad is part of the Mountain View Los Altos Soccer Club. To register and for more information, visit mvlasc.org.
Spring hoops camp
Spartans Sports Camp’s Coed Spring Break Basketball Camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon April 7-11 at Mountain View High. It is open to boys and girls in grades 3-8. Led by Mountain View coaches and alumni, the camp will focus on shooting, ball handling and defense. Cost is $195. Aloha Volleyball Club, directed by Los Altos High girls coach Peter Kim, has scheduled five three-session clinics on the fundamentals of volleyball. The clinics, open to boys and girls 14 and under, are scheduled three Sundays a month through May at Santa Clara High. Cost is $40 per clinic or $100 for three sessions. CIF seeks nominations
The California Interscholastic Federation is accepting spring-sport nominations for its All-Century Teams. The CIF governs the state’s high school sports. Former student-athletes who demonstrated significant athletic contributions in CIF-approved sports are eligible. Nominations will be accepted through May.
