MVLA honors players
The Mountain View Los Altos Soccer Club tonight will honor 27 high school players who have committed to colleges, including six girls from Los Altos or Los Altos Hills. MVLA’s annual College Signing Night event is scheduled 8 p.m. at Hillview Community Center in Los Altos. Sarah Robinson and Jaye Boissiere headline the list of locals; both Los Altos residents are bound for Stanford University. The others: Megan Keeth (Los Altos) is headed to Santa Clara University; Sophia Hyver (Los Altos Hills) to UC San Diego; Julia Goupil (Los Altos) to MIT; and Erica Higa (Los Altos Hills) to the University of Pennsylvania
MV hires track coach
Mountain View High recently hired Michael Streck-Woodard as varsity track and field coach. The Menlo Park native ran track and played football at Humboldt State University. The Spartans are set to open their season March 20 against visiting Los Gatos.
Club team tryouts
Tryouts for the Mavericks, Los Altos-Mountain View PONY Baseball’s 8-and-under club team, are scheduled 2-4 p.m. March 9 at Cooper Park, 500 Chesley Ave., Mountain View. The season runs from mid-March through Memorial Day weekend. Players must be registered to try out. To register and for more information, visit lamvpb.org.
Tryouts for the MVLA Typhoons, an under-15 girls team for soccer players born after July 31, 1998, are scheduled 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Mountain View High.
