LA runners recognized
Los Altos High sophomores Lauren Jacob and Ben Zaeske were recently named to the All-Northern California Cross-Country Team. Jacob made the first team; Zaeske earned an honorable-mention nod. The team comprises runners from six northern sections, which includes more than 600 schools.
Aloha Volleyball Club, directed by Los Altos High girls coach Peter Kim, has scheduled five three-session clinics on the basic fundamentals of volleyball. The clinics, open to boys and girls 14 and under, are scheduled three Sundays a month through May at Santa Clara High. Cost is $40 per clinic or $100 for three sessions. PONY up for baseball
Los Altos-Mountain View PONY Baseball registration has opened for the spring season. The league is for boys and girls ages 5-19. Practice begins in March and the season runs through June. To register and for more information, visit lamvpb.org.
Mountain View-Los Altos Girls Softball is registering players for the spring season. The league is open to girls 5-16. No experience necessary; everyone plays. Clinics are offered to develop skills. To register and for more information, visit mvlags.org.
CIF seeks nominations
The California Interscholastic Federation is accepting nominations for its All-Century Teams. The CIF governs the state’s high school sports. Former student-athletes who demonstrated significant athletic contributions in CIF-approved sports are eligible and anyone can nominate a student-athlete. Winter sports nominations will be accepted through February and spring nominations March through May. For more information, visit cifstate.org.
