So far, so good for the St. Francis High boys basketball team. The Lancers opened their season with back-to-back wins last week at the Independence Tournament.
After routing Oak Grove 71-42 in the Dec. 11 opener, St. Francis clobbered Cupertino 65-33 Thursday. Alex Frazier, Eric Morgan and Brian Garrett scored 10 points each in the second game.
Pinewood rebounded from a 54-52 setback to Santa Clara Dec. 10 by pummeling Alma Heights Christian 57-32 Thursday in Los Altos Hills. Greg Naumann scored 17 points for the Panthers (4-2) against Santa Clara.
Pinewood opened its own tournament with a 72-59 victory over Scotts Valley Dec. 11.
Four Panthers scored double-digit points in the Pinewood Classic game. Monique McDevitt and Marisa Hing paced the Panthers (4-0) with 17 points each; sisters Leeana Bade and Gabi Bade had 13 and 12 points, respectively.
St. Francis skunked Aptos 7-0 Thursday, improving to 5-1. The Lancers led 6-0 at halftime.
Annie Kingman notched three goals and an assist for visiting St. Francis. Delaney Baie Pridham added two goals and two assists.
Watsonville handed Los Altos its first loss of the season, 3-0 Thursday at the Homestead Christmas Cup. The Eagles dropped to 3-1 overall.
