Tree for sports
The MVLA High School Christmas Tree Lot is scheduled to open for business Friday at the corner of El Camino Real and El Monte Avenue in Mountain View. Hours are 4-7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekends. The lot is a major fundraiser for the sports programs at Los Altos and Mountain View highs. For more information, visit mvlatrees.com.
It’s Turkey Trot time
Mountain View High’s fourth annual Spartan Turkey Trot is scheduled Thursday morning on the school track. Race-day registration opens at 7:30 a.m. The 5K run is slated to start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K walk at 8:35 a.m. A series of fun runs is planned immediately after the 5Ks: a 60-yard dash, a 400-yard dash and a mile run. The top three finishers in the men’s and women’s divisions of the 5K run will be awarded home-baked pumpkin pies and a gift certificate for the On Your Mark running store in Los Altos. Holiday hoops camp
Spartans Sports Camp’s second Coed Holiday Basketball Camp is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 26-28 and 30-31 at Mountain View High. It is open to boys and girls in grades 4-8. Mountain View coaches and alumni will teach participants how to improve their shooting, ball handling, defense and other skills. Registration is $195; partial sessions may be prorated.
