FIT events Saturday

Focused Individual Training of Los Altos has scheduled three free fundraising events Saturday. The day begins with Fight Gone Bad, 30-minute workouts led by FIT trainers set to start at 8 a.m. A 5k run/walk is slated 9 a.m., as is the Halloween fun run for children 6 and under. Both runs begin in the parking lot at FIT, 600 Fremont Ave. Costumes are encouraged for the fun run. Donations will go to the U.S. Pain Foundation, Buddies In ACTION and Building Strength. Take a hike

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District has scheduled its Autumn in the Foothills hike 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve, which borders Los Altos and Cupertino. Discover the diversity of the Santa Clara Valley foothills on the 10-mile, 1,600-foot-gain hike through the preserve’s habitats. MROSD docents Fran Keeler and Ranjana Sharma will guide participants through a variety of plant communities, from the canyons to the hilltops, including panoramic views from San Francisco to south San Jose. Free volleyball clinics

The Aloha Volleyball Club, directed by Los Altos High girls volleyball coach Peter Kim, has scheduled free clinics Sunday at Wilcox High, 3250 Monroe St., Santa Clara. The volleyball clinics are for girls in middle school (3:30-5 p.m.) and high school (5:30-7:30 p.m.). For more information, visit alohavbc.com.

Pumpkins for sports

The Los Altos High School Pumpkin Patch – benefiting the school’s athletic program – is slated 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends through Halloween in the student parking lot. A variety of pumpkins are available for purchase. The pumpkin patch is bigger this year, featuring a spooky tunnel walk, a haunted graveyard and snacks.

Call for tennis volunteers

The Mountain View Police Activities League and the Mountain View Recreation Division seek high school volunteers for their NetGain Tennis Program for at-risk middle-school students. The program is set to run 3-5:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays starting next week at Rengstorff Park and Crittenden Middle School.
