The Braves, a Mustang 2 division (ages 9-10) team from Los Altos-Mountain View PONY Baseball, recently completed a perfect five-game playoff run by defeating the Athletics 8-7 in the final.

Both teams entered the game with 4-0 records after rolling through their respective playoff brackets. The six-inning final featured five lead changes.

A’s pitcher Nico Andrighetto pitched three strong innings and delivered two early singles to stake his team to a two-run lead at the halfway point.

Multiple hits by Troy Kelsch coupled with timely hitting throughout the Braves lineup kept the game close early on.

The game’s turning point came in the fourth inning when baseball rookie Armaan Hedayati of the Braves blooped a two-out, bases- loaded single down the first-base line to drive in two runs. That gave the Braves the lead for good.

Closer Nicky Morris blanked the A’s through the final three innings to preserve the win and the championship for the Braves.
