MVLA honors college-bound players Feb. 26

The Mountain View Los Altos Soccer Club next week will honor 27 high school players who have committed to colleges, including six girls from Los Altos or Los Altos Hills.

MVLA’s annual College Signing Night event is scheduled 8 p.m. Feb. 26 at Hillview Community Center in Los Altos.

Sarah Robinson and Jaye Boissiere headline the list of locals; both Los Altos residents are bound for Stanford University. The others: Megan Keeth (Los Altos) is headed to Santa Clara University; Sophia Hyver (Los Altos Hills) to UC San Diego; Julia Goupil (Los Altos) to MIT; and Erica Higa (Los Altos Hills) to the University of Pennsylvania.

“This is one of the biggest classes of women we have sent off to college in one graduating year,” said Albertin Montoya, the club’s director of coaching. “To have 27 MVLA players be able to continue their education and get a degree while playing the sport they have grown to love and respect is more than we can ask for. All of us at MVLA – including my coaching staff, administrators and parents – are extremely proud and honored to recognize them.”
