The St. Francis High football team bettered Bellarmine in every key statistic other than interceptions, 3-1, and the final score, 21-14, Friday night.
The host Lancers lost for the first time this season and are now 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the West Catholic Athletic League. Two of the Bellarmine interceptions went for touchdowns.
St. Francis had a chance to tie or win the game with 19 seconds left, but halfback Alex Andrighetto was tackled at the Bells’ 3-yard line on fourth down. The senior rushed for a game-high 85 yards on 22 carries. He added another seven yards on a pass reception, plus a touchdown.
Trill Hebert scored the Lancers’ other TD on an 11-yard pass from William Fisher-Colbrie.
Defensively, Holden Mackey, Alex Carbonel, John Powers and Riley Quinn each had five tackles for St. Francis.
