Winning week for football teams

There were wins all around on the local football front last weekend. Los Altos and St. Francis highs remained undefeated, Pinewood School improved to 3-1 and Mountain View High earned its first win of the year.

Los Altos 49, San Lorenzo Valley 21

Running back Sean Lanoza scored five touchdowns in Saturday’s road victory, which boosted the Eagles’ record to 5-0. The junior racked up 119 yards and four scores on the ground and caught nine passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Coach Trevor Pruitt said Lanoza’s “ability to find the hole and hit it full speed is great (and) then when teams over-pursue him, he is able to find the cutback lane.”

Quarterback Lambie Lanman completed 26 of his 40 passes for 308 yards and two TDs. Receiver Victor Ruiz made 13 receptions for 184 yards and two scores.

Linebacker Josh Williams led the defense with 11 tackles.

Los Altos is scheduled to open SCVAL El Camino Division play 7:30 p.m. Friday at Homestead (0-1 league, 4-1 overall).

St. Francis 14, St. Ignatius 6

Ryan Johnson’s 54-yard touchdown pass to halfback Alex Andrighetto midway through the third quarter gave the visiting Lancers their first lead in Saturday’s West Catholic Athletic League opener, and they stayed on top. Running back Landon Baty extended St. Francis’ advantage with a 49-yard scoring scamper in the fourth quarter.

The Lancers (4-0 overall) are slated to host rival Bellarmine (0-1 league, 3-1 overall) 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Mountain View 13, Saratoga 7

Friday’s SCVAL De Anza Division opener wasn’t just Homecoming for Saratoga but also for Mountain View coach Shelley Smith, who coached at Saratoga the previous 11 years.

Smith’s Spartans won for the first time, getting a 22-yard TD pass from Anthony Avery to Frank Kapp and two field goals from Esteban Rivera.

Mountain View (1-3) is set to play its Homecoming game 3:15 p.m. Friday against Santa Clara.

Pinewood 78, NV Baptist 22

Aiden Lucero scored touchdowns on offense (three), defense (two) and special teams (one) for the Panthers in their rout of host North Valley Baptist Friday.
