SF netters recognized

The West Catholic Athletic League recently announced its 2011 WCAL Tennis All League teams. St. Francis junior Mary Closs was selected Player of the Year. Closs and sophomore Paulina Bajet were named to the first team. Senior Megan Png and freshman Illina Yang, also from St. Francis, were designated Doubles Team of the Year and chosen for the second team.

MVLA earns honor

The San Jose Earthquakes last week named the Mountain View Los Altos Soccer Club as one of the seven training centers in Northern California for their Pre-Academy Regional Development Schools. Albertin Montoya, director of coaching for MVLA will lead the training for the Mountain View location.

Cooperstown tryouts

Tryouts for Los Altos-Mountain View PONY Baseball’s under-12 Cooperstown club team are slated 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Covington School in Los Altos. To register or for more information, visit www.lamvpb.org.

Softball sign-ups

Mountain View Los Altos Girls Softball is registering players for its spring recreation season. The league is open to girls 5-16. Everyone plays; no experience necessary. To register or for more information, visit www.mvlags.org.

Winter baseball camp

St. Francis High has scheduled its winter baseball camp for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders Dec. 27-29. St. Francis baseball coach Mike Oakland will run the camp, featuring hitting, pitching and fielding sessions. Sessions are $50-$100 each.
