Volunteers needed for preserve maintenance
Union Presbyterian Church of Los Altos seeks volunteers for its Byrne Preserve cleanup project 10 a.m. June 29. Volunteers will meet at Westwind Community Barn, 27210 Altamont Road, Los Altos Hills.
Supervised by the nonprofit environmental organization Acterra, a team of volunteers will spend two hours pulling weeds and clearing the trail at Byrne Park Preserve.
The project is family friendly and designed for all age groups. The organizers will provide drinking water. Some shovels and trowels will be available, but volunteers may bring their own tools.
No registration is required.

Meditation group meets at Foothills Congregational
A Weekly Meditation Practice group meets 7-8:15 a.m. Tuesdays at Foothills Congregational Church, 461 Orange Ave., Los Altos.
Each session will include the context and instruction in a meditation practice for that week, ample time for practice and opportunities to share with and learn from group participants as they integrate the practice in their daily lives.
Admission is free and open to all, including both new and experienced meditators.
Union Presbyterian offers healing room
Union Presbyterian Church of Los Altos offers an InSpirit Praise & Prayer Healing Room 10 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of every month in the sanctuary, 858 University Ave.
Director Laurie Kurgas said the healing room is open to anyone battling an illness or injury, or feeling discouraged.
LAUMC hosts evening for special-needs kids
The Donovan’s Door ministry at Los Altos United Methodist Church has scheduled an evening for children with special needs and their siblings July 11 at the church, 655 Magdalena Ave.
Children will participate in games and musical activities while their parents enjoy a break.
The registration deadline is July 1. Space is limited.
