LAUMC sponsors children’s book drive
Los Altos United Methodist Church is sponsoring a children’s book drive through Sunday.
The church is collecting new and used children’s books for the Reading Partners program at Mariano Castro Elementary School in Mountain View. The nonprofit Reading Partners assists students who struggle with reading by pairing them with volunteers.
Donations may be dropped off at the church’s Children’s Center Multipurpose Room, 655 Magdalena Ave.
Meditation group meets at Foothills Congregational
A Weekly Meditation Practice group meets 7-8:15 a.m. Tuesdays at Foothills Congregational Church, 461 Orange Ave., Los Altos.
Each session includes the context and instruction in a meditation practice for that week, ample time for practice and opportunities to share with and learn from group participants as they integrate the practice in their daily lives.
Admission is free and open to all, including both new and experienced meditators.
Union Presbyterian offers healing room
Union Presbyterian Church of Los Altos has scheduled an InSpirit Praise & Prayer Healing Room 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the sanctuary, 858 University Ave.
Director Laurie Kurgas said the healing room is open to anyone battling an illness or injury, or feeling discouraged.
“We will pray with you for healing and for you to draw closer to God,” she said.
