Santa Claus came early to local families in need through the efforts of the Mosaic high school fellowship group at Los Altos United Methodist Church.
Mosaic hosted a Christmas party Dec. 21 for 75 children who attend Hope’s Corner or who are children of workers at the Day Worker Center of Mountain View.
The Mosaic volunteers entertained the children with crafts, snacks and photos with Santa. Meanwhile, their parents “shopped” in a store stocked with donated bicycles, toys, games and clothes organized by Girl Scout Troop 60321 and other volunteers.
Silicon Valley Bicycle Exchange donated many of the bicycles. The church’s Creekside Christmas crafting event and the Jingle Run, sponsored by On Your Mark in Los Altos, also generated toy donations.
Hope’s Corner is a free Saturday breakfast and sack lunch program at Trinity United Methodist Church, at the corner of Hope and Mercy streets in Mountain View. Hope’s Corner is a joint ministry of Los Altos and Trinity United Methodist churches.
Volunteers are invited to help prepare food on Fridays or serve breakfast on Saturdays.
Los Altos United Methodist Church is located at 655 Magdalena Ave.
