LAUMC ‘Sale-Abration’ supports African women

The Los Altos United Methodist Women have scheduled “Sale-Abration 2014” 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30-7 p.m. Sunday and Feb. 2 in the church’s Creekside Center, 655 Magdalena Ave.

“Sale-Abration” will feature gift items, floral arrangements and baked goods as well as snacks and other edibles for Super Bowl Sunday and Valentine’s Day.

The annual fundraiser supports the African Student Education Fund, which provides scholarships to African women pursuing higher education, primarily at Africa University in Zimbabwe. The fund, established in 2005 by the Los Altos United Methodist Women, has supported 38 women to date who intend to use their education to improve life for all in Africa. The group hopes to support 10 students in the coming academic year.
