• Daniel Everett Moerner, an alumnus of Los Altos High School, graduated May 19 from Pomona College with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and classics.
Moerner, the son of W.E. and Sharon Moerner of Los Altos, earned Phi Beta Kappa honors, the Tileston Physics Prize and a Downing Scholarship, which will support his pursuit of a graduate degree at the University of Cambridge.
• Benjamin Smith of Los Altos, a chemistry major at Pomona College, received a Fulbright Fellowship to travel to Freiburg, Germany, to perform immunology research and study graft-versus-host disease. The goal is to characterize the molecular and cellular signals responsible for the disease.
Following his time in Freiburg, Smith plans to pursue a graduate degree in academic medicine and translational science.
