The Mountain View Los Altos Union High School District Board of Trustees June 17 appointed William Blair and Lynne Ewald as assistant principals at Mountain View High School, effective at the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year.
Blair and Ewald will join Dave Grissom, recently hired as the new principal, and Assistant Principal Mike Mathiesen on the school’s administrative team.
Blair taught Leadership, Broadcast Journalism, Newspaper and English at Mountain View High over the past nine years. He received the Mountain View Los Altos Teacher of the Year Award in 2009-2010.
Blair earned a bachelor’s degree in English and psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and a teaching credential from the University of San Diego.
“We are pleased to welcome William to the MVLA administrative team,” Superintendent Barry Groves said. “He brings an unbridled enthusiasm for kids and a passion for learning. As his ASB kids told me, he is going to be an awesome administrator.”
Ewald previously served as assistant principal at Santa Clara High School, where Grissom worked for six years as the top administrator. In her role at Santa Clara High, Ewald oversaw the curriculum, master schedule, student activities and special programs.
She earned an undergraduate degree from Florida State University and a master’s degree in educational administration from San Jose State University.
“Lynne is the hardest-working administrator that I have ever worked with,” Grissom said. “Her relentless efforts on behalf of students are commendable. She will be a wonderful addition to the MVHS staff, and I look forward to working with her again.”
Blair and Ewald replace Donna Peltz and Sharon Chrisman. Peltz continues to serve the district as a consultant, and Chrisman retired this month.
