Gunn hosts College Fair for local students

Gunn High School has scheduled a College Fair for students from all local high schools 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday in the Bow and Titan gyms at Gunn, 780 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto.

Representatives from more than 140 public and private colleges and 11 international universities will be available to talk with students and parents.

Loyola K-Kids host toiletries drive

The Loyola School K-Kids Club is collecting new toiletries for the Community Services Agency of Mountain View through Dec. 14.

The club seeks donations of items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, hand sanitizer and shampoo.

MVLA Community Scholars seeks volunteer mentors for its College Prep Program.

The nonprofit organization pairs underserved students at Los Altos and Mountain View high schools with local residents willing to guide them through the college and scholarship application process during Advancement During Individual Determination (AVID) class periods.

The Living Classroom environmental education program seeks volunteer docents interested in connecting children with the outdoors.

Docents and their assistants provide hands-on math, science and social studies lessons to all grades in the Los Altos and Mountain View Whisman school districts. All training and materials are provided.

Los Altos Art Docents seek volunteers

The Los Altos Arts Docents have scheduled an informational coffee meeting for prospective volunteers 10 a.m. Aug. 27 in the Los Altos School District Board Room, 201 Covington Road.

The nonprofit, all-volunteer organization relies on docents who train for nine months before introducing art lessons to the classroom curriculum.
