Egan Junior High sponsors e-waste drive

Egan Junior High School has scheduled an electronic waste drive 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the school, 100 West Portola Ave.

Green Mouse Recycling, a state-approved electronic waste recycling service for schools, will conduct the event. Students and school officials will ensure that all items are recycled according to state rules and regulations.

Electronic items accepted include but are not limited to computers, laptops, televisions, monitors, fax machines, printers, telephones, cellphones, speakers, stereo equipment, copy machines, wire, cabling, printed circuit boards, keyboards, mice, microwaves, batteries, small appliances, scrap metal and/or fluorescent lights.

NCL hosts open house

The Orchard Valley Chapter of the National Charity League (NCL) has scheduled an open house for girls entering seventh grade in the fall of 2012 and their mothers, 3-5 p.m. Oct. 23.

The local chapter invites mothers and daughters with an interest in community service, leadership, education and cultural experiences to attend and learn about the programs and philanthropies NCL supports and meet current members.
