Woodside Priory reaches for the stars for fund-raiser

"Lights, Camera, Auction!," Woodside Priory School's fund-raising party toasting Hollywood's golden era, is scheduled for 6 p.m. March 22 at the Los Altos Golf and Country Club.

Cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and bidding in the silent auction room begin at 6:15 p.m., dinner is at 7:30 p.m. and the live auction begins at 9 p.m.

Guests will be treated to an array of giant-sized images of Hollywood legends like John Wayne. Students assisting at the auctions will be in Hollywood attire, masquerading as Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe and Gary Cooper.

Items to be auctioned off include vacation packages, including sites in Mexico and Hawaii, teacher tutoring, gourmet food baskets, a grandfather clock, web site consultations and a mountain bike.

Proceeds go to keeping class sizes small, scholarships and other educational needs, organizers said.

Los Altos and Los Altos Hills residents serving on committees for the auction include Deborah Simons, Daryl Larsen, Julia Simmons, Linda Moore and Connie LeBeau, GreggAnn Herrern, Cathy Voelker, Dorothy and Terry Hayes, Sandy Carse and Jocelyn Liu.

There are 27 Los Altos and Los Altos Hills students currently attending the school, which has approximately 250 students in grades six through 12.

Woodside Priory School is located at 302 Portola Road in Portola Valley. For reservations, call Woodside Priory School at 851-6156.
