Mr. Wizard science assembly to visit Almond School

Almond School students in Los Altos will be treated to "Mr. Wizard's Everyday Energy In Action" at 1 and 2 p.m. today at the campus, 550 Almond Ave.

Don Herbert, better known as "Mr. Wizard" from NBC-TV's "Watch Mr. Wizard" and Nickelodeon's "Mr. Wizard's World," has produced a program to bring this hands-on style of science to Los Altos. Although Don Herbert himself will not be performing, Brad Bergdoll, his assistant, will present the program.

The American Academy for the Advancement of Science has set guidelines that suggest teachers use hands-on projects in an effort to improve the science programs. The Mr. Wizard program helps meet that need, according to program officials.

Mr. Wizard Science Assembly Programs demonstrate the science of everyday living using interactive teaching methods. The show will instruct students on energy and energy conservation. In the style of the Mr. Wizard television show, student volunteers from the audience are invited to help.
