MVHS band, ensemble schedule final concert

Mountain View High School’s Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble have scheduled their final concert 7-8 p.m. Thursday in Spartan Theater, 3535 Truman Ave.

.The program will include Symphonic Band pieces “Convergence” by John Moss and “Balkanya” by Jan Van der Roost. The Wind Ensemble will play “La Mezquita de Cordoba” by Julie Giroux, “Perthshire Majesty” by Samuel Hazo and “Machu Picchu – City in the Sky” by Satoshi Yagisawa.

General admission is $8; seniors, children under 12 and MVHS ASB cardholders pay $6.

Almond School presents ‘Toy Story 3 1/2, A New Musical’

The Almond School Drama Club has scheduled its annual play beginning Thursday at the K-6 school, 550 Almond Ave. This year’s production is based on the “Toy Story” movies. The play, “Toy Story 3 ½, A New Musical,” is the original work of Almond parent Kim Gavenman and directed by fourth-grade teacher Lisa Call. More than 100 third- through sixth-graders will perform in the play.

Performances are scheduled 6:30 p.m. Thursday, 7 p.m. Friday, 6:30 p.m. June 3 and 7 p.m. June 4. Tickets are $5, available at the door before each show. For more information, visit www.almondschool.org.

DezignKidz hosts summer fashion camp

Fledgling fashionistas are invited to attend DezignKidz Summer Camps at Covington School, 205 Covington Road, Los Altos.

The camps, aimed at youth 7-12, focus on the fashion world and explain how to take a garment or accessory from concept to completion in weeklong programs.

Offerings include Fashion Dezign 1, Fashion Dezign 2 or Artistic Accessories, where budding designers can learn techniques in weaving, sewing, fabric printing/dyeing and jewelry making and use them to make purses, belts, hair accessories and more.

The camps culminate in a fashion show July 29.
