LAKA summer classes open for registration
Los Altos KidzAdventures (LAKA) has scheduled a variety of summer enrichment classes for students entering grades 1-4.
Classes are scheduled 8:30 a.m. to noon June 20 through July 15 at Santa Rita School, 700 Los Altos Ave. Credentialed teachers teach all classes.
Reading, writing and math classes are designed for all ability levels – to give a boost or create a challenge. Other LAKA offerings include Young Chefs, Computers, Outrageous Outdoor Games, Magnificent Machines, Art, Lively Ink, Math Masters, Writing Workshop and Mysterious World.
In four weeks, a student can take four different classes, two during each two-week session.
LAKA offers a support program for first- and second-grade students through Phonemic Awareness, Reading into First and Reading into Second classes. Support classes feature a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:8.
ScholarKids schedules summer program
ScholarKids, a summer enrichment program for incoming fifth- through eighth-graders, has scheduled a variety of classes June 20 through July 15 at Egan Junior High, 100 W. Portola Ave., Los Altos.
Classes, nearly all taught by credentialed teachers, include Aviation, Junior MD, CSI Los Altos, Chemistry for Kids, Creative Outdoors, Woodworking, Rocketry, Transitioning to Middle School, Master Chefs, Mini Economy, Speech, Debate, and Arts and Crafts.
Classes are $150-$175 for two-week sessions. Some classes include additional fees.

Foothill registration available online
The online schedule for Summer Session 2011 at Foothill College is posted at www.foothill.com. Summer Session registration runs from May 27 through June 26.
Summer Session courses begin June 27 and generally run in six- and eight-week formats. Summer Session for continuing students (those enrolled in courses at Foothill or De Anza colleges during Spring Quarter 2011) runs May 27 through June 26.
Continuing students’ dates to register are based on the number of course units they have completed at Foothill-De Anza. To review the dates, register for courses and pay fees, visit MyPortal.fhda.edu.
Summer Session registration for new and former students runs June 6-26, after they submit an online admission application. There is no fee to apply. After new students submit applications, they will receive instructions to open and log on to individual MyPortal.fhda.edu accounts, from which they will conduct a variety of college transactions, including registering for courses and paying fees.
