Allyson Ramans, a graduate of St. Francis High School, received the Emma Bowen and Elmer Sells Memorial Scholarship from the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She is the daughter of Ed and Sue Ramans of Los Altos.
Eric Michael Scott, son of Anne and Jerry Scott of Los Altos, entered the doctoral program in bioinformatics at UC San Diego in September. Scott, an alumnus of Mountain View High School (2003) and UC Santa Cruz (2007), has worked at Roche Pharmaceuticals in Palo Alto and Nutley, N.J. The doctoral program requires five to six years of study in biological data and analysis.
Jason Griego, son of Debbie and Michael Griego of Mountain View, was honored as Marketing Student of the Year at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s Orfalea College of Business. Griego graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business marketing from Cal Poly last spring. Jason and his bride, Chelsea Ligda of Los Altos, moved to Raleigh, N.C., where he works for Cisco Systems.
Diana Chou, a 2010 Los Altos High School graduate, received a $28,000 scholarship from the Northern California Scholarship Foundation. The scholarship is disbursed at $7,000 per year for four years. Recipients must maintain at least a B average and attend an annual student banquet held within a 150-mile radius of his or her college campus.
As part of a scholarship program to identify and support college educations for low-income or financially underserved students, the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation’s Dell Scholars Program awarded Los Altos High School graduate Gilberto Orozco Jr. a $20,000 scholarship to continue his higher education for the next six years.
Lara Eder, an equestrian studies major, has enrolled as a sophomore at the University of Findlay in Ohio for the 2010-2011 academic year. Eder is the daughter of Carol and Joseph Eder of Los Altos Hills. Eder received the Trustees’ Scholarship from the university.
