Pinewood Choir receiveshonors at competition
Pinewood School Children's Choir, comprising students in grades four to six, received "Unanimous Superior" recognition from all three judges at the California Association for Music Education competition earlier this month.
The choir performed a piece entitled "The Elements," an eight-movement cantata written for children's voices. This is the third year the Pinewood Children's Choir has performed at the choral festival, and the third year they have received the Unanimous Superior recognition for their performance.
In addition to evening and weekend practices, the choir meets Tuesdays and Thursdays before school. Performances throughout the year include two or three concerts and several retirement home visits.
Local students to perform""Annie Junior""
Students at the German International School of Silicon Valley are scheduled to perform the musical "Annie Junior" 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the school auditorium, 310 Easy St., Mountain View.
Performances are open to the public. Tickets are $5 per person, $10 per family.

Music For Minorsneeds volunteers
Music For Minors has scheduled a volunteer information meeting 7 p.m. May 31 at 883 Shoreline Blvd., Suite C120, Mountain View.
Music For Minors volunteers visit K-3 classrooms once a week during the school year to provide music education. Training for the 2007-2008 school year will begin in September and includes basic music theory, songs and games, rhythm and movement activities, lesson planning and classroom strategies. No formal music background is required.

LASD offers summerchess club day camp
The Los Altos School District has scheduled a summer chess club day camp at Oak Elementary School in July for K-8 students in the district.
