Blach Intermediate School musicians, including choruses and instrumental bands, showcased their talents last month at the Heritage Music Festival at Disneyland.

Students participated in Disney’s soundtrack workshops, learning and recording music to Disney movies. They also performed in the festival and won a number of awards and trophies. Professional musicians from colleges and universities throughout the U.S. adjudicated the students’ performances.

Both of Blach’s choruses and its smaller a cappella group, Blachappella, received gold awards and an invitation to participate next year in a festival at Carnegie Hall or Davies Symphony Hall.

The seventh- and eighth-grade band and orchestras took home gold in their divisions. The choral and instrumental successes led to Blach students earning the festival’s Sweepstakes Trophy.

In between the festival and music workshops, the students enjoyed the Disneyland rides.
