Eats around Los Altos: Fourth of July edition

In addition to this week's traditional pancake breakfasts and afternoon picnics, Steins Beer Garden & Restaurant (895 Villa St.) has launched a "Pork of July" menu this week – no big-government jibes included.

From bacon berry shortcake to a pork belly potato salad, Executive Chef Colby Reade added an over-the-top spin to the special menu this week.

The smoked tomato and candied bacon bloody mary includes a pickled vegetable garden garnish, and the "Pork Stravaganza Sandwich" features house-made chorizo, pimento cheese, fried breaded pork cutlet, smoked chili aioli, pickled cabbage and grilled red onion.
