According to city staff, the entire northeast section of First Street in downtown Los Altos, between Plaza 7 and Shasta Street, is scheduled to open to the public this week. Irrigation and electrical work is underway along this section of First Street in preparation for new landscaping and decorative street lighting. The work is part of Phase 1B of the city's First Street streetscape improvement project.
Demolition is complete at the corner of Shasta and First Street (closest to Edith Avenue) and contractors have begun correcting the radius of the corner and installing an ADA ramp.
Curb and gutter demolition has begun on the northwest side of First Street in front of Evolve Classical Pilates. Contractors will be replacing the curb, gutter and sidewalk to match the work completed on the opposite side of First Street.
