Gardner Bullis School students and local residents who walk or cycle along Fremont Road can enjoy a smoother and safer passage when work on the Safe Route to Los Altos Hills Schools project ends this week.
Construction on the $1.08 million multiuse pathway along West Fremont Road between Concepcion Road and West Edith Avenue – jointly funded by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority and the town of Los Altos Hills – broke ground last fall. As crews installed guardrails, retaining walls, shoulder striping, utility relocation, new curbs and 5- and 6-foot decomposed granite pathways, drivers experienced detours and delays.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the project is scheduled 8:15 a.m. Friday at Gardner Bullis School.
