Los Altos man arrested for burglary

Mountain View police last week announced the arrest of two men, one a Los Altos resident, for allegedly burglarizing a local storage unit.

According to police, a witness observed Los Altos resident Lawrence Ovadia, 33, and Mountain View resident Sterling Winterhalter, 28, burglarizing a storage unit at 707 Continental Circle in Mountain View before fleeing in a dark colored pickup truck.

Patrol officers later located the vehicle, which was occupied by Ovadia at the time, in the Goodwill parking lot at 855 E. El Camino Real. Winterhalter, who was outside the vehicle at the time, fled on foot but was apprehended and arrested at a nearby Lucky’s Supermarket soon after.

Following the arrests, officers located stolen property in the suspects’ truck. The subsequent investigation led officers to other stolen property that detectives are currently trying to match up with victims.
