The Franchise Tax Board’s list of Top 500 Delinquent Taxpayers includes one local resident.
Antonio J. Casamento of Los Altos, ranked 433rd on the list, owes the state $271,808.37, according to the tax board.
The Town Crier was unable to reach Casamento for comment.
CNET co-founder Halsey Minor and his wife, Shannon, of San Francisco topped the list at $10.5 million.
A new law requires the tax board to post a list of the 500 state income-tax debtors who owe more than $100,000 biannually.
According to a press release issued April 13, the Franchise Tax Board mailed letters to individuals and businesses eligible for the list in November and has collected more than $25 million from those seeking to pay their tax debt before their names were posted publicly. More than $118 million has been collected as a result of the list, first published in October 2007.
Taxpayers who resolve their cases are removed from the list, according to tax board officials.
